At Discovery Publishing Service, we are committed to delivering high-quality, custom self-publishing services. Because much of our work is bespoke and created specifically for you, this policy explains our refund and cancellation terms clearly and fairly.

1. General Refund Policy

Because our work is custom-created, full refunds are generally unavailable once project work has begun. However, partial refunds or another suitable resolution may be considered where:

  • The refund request is made within 24 hours of payment and work has not yet started; or
  • The project is in its early stages, depending on the work completed; and
  • The client submits a written explanation with the request.

2. Eligibility for Refunds

  • Before Work Begins: Full refund, less non-refundable payment-processing fees, if requested within 24 hours of payment and no work has started.
  • Client-Initiated Cancellation: A partial, prorated refund may be offered if a project is cancelled after work has begun, based on the stage of completion and the service-specific terms below.
  • Non-Delivery of Services: Non-delivery by us: If we are unable to deliver due to an internal issue or force majeure, a prorated or full refund will be issued based on the work completed.

3. Service-Specific Refund Conditions

Because each service has a different workflow, refund terms vary as follows:

a. Ghostwriting & Book Writing

  • Full refund if cancelled before writing or outlining begins.
  • Partial refund prorated to completed chapters or milestones if writing has started but is not complete.
  • No refund once the final manuscript has been delivered or approved.

b. Editing & Proofreading

  • Full refund if cancelled before editing begins.
  • Partial refund if editing has started but is not complete.
  • No refund once edited files have been delivered.

c. Book Publishing & Distribution

  • Partial refund if setup has begun but files have not yet been submitted to any platform.
  • No refund once files have been submitted on self-publishing platforms. Platform acceptance, timelines, and availability are outside our control.

4. Non-Refundable Situations

  • Final deliverables that have been approved or delivered.
  • Change of mind or shifted expectations outside the signed scope.
  • Client delays, lack of cooperation, or missed approvals.
  • Third-party costs already incurred (ISBN purchase, printing, advertising spend, distribution fees, hosting, narrator licensing).
  • Digital deliverables that have been downloaded or accessed.
  • Scope changes carried out at the client's request without prior scope or budget approval.

5. Revisions & Resolution-First Policy

Before requesting a refund, clients are asked to first:

  • Use the revision rounds outlined in the service agreement; and
  • Communicate concerns directly so we can work toward a resolution.

Refunds will not be considered until a reasonable attempt at resolution has been made

6. Cancellation Policy

  • To cancel, submit a written request to info@discoverypublishingservice.com.
  • If cancelled within 24 hours of payment and no work has begun, a full refund (less payment-processing fees) will be provided.
  • If work has begun, the refund depends on the service type and project stage, as set out in Section 3.
  • For multi-phase projects, future phases may be cancelled; work already completed is not refundable.

7. Refund Request Process

To request a refund:

  • Email info@discoverypublishingservice.com with your Order ID, project name, and reason for the request. • Requests are reviewed within 5–7 business days.
  • Requests are reviewed within 5–7 business days.
  • Approved refunds are processed within 7–14 business days via the original payment method.
  • Payment-processor fees (for example, Stripe or PayPal) are non-refundable and are deducted from any refund.

8. Chargebacks and Disputes

Clients agree to exhaust our internal support and resolution options before filing a chargeback. We reserve the right to respond to unjustified chargebacks with documentation of the services provided, approvals received, and communications exchanged.

9. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or non-performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters or emergencies, platform or server outages, conflict or civil unrest, pandemics, or government regulations.

10. Client Cooperation

Timely delivery depends on your participation. A refund may be reduced or denied if a client fails to provide required feedback, approvals, or materials, or is unresponsive for an extended period.

11. Third-Party Platform Dependency

Projects that rely on third-party platforms that are subject to those platforms' availability, timelines, pricing, and policies. We do not guarantee acceptance, ranking, sales, or visibility on any platform, and we are not liable for refunds arising from third-party disruptions, delays, policy changes, or decisions.

12. Trial or Sample Services

Any trial or sample service (for example, a sample edit or sample chapter) is non-refundable unless otherwise stated in writing, as it is offered to demonstrate our capability at limited scope and cost.

13. Ownership on Refund

  • You always retain full ownership of your original manuscript, story, and underlying content, along with 100% of the rights and royalties to your published work.
  • If a full refund is issued for a specific deliverable we created (for example, a cover design, edited file, or ghostwritten text), the rights to and the license to use that specific company-created deliverable revert to Discovery Publishing Service, and the client may not publish, use, distribute, or modify that deliverable.
  • This does not affect your ownership of your own underlying manuscript and content.

14. Policy Updates

This Refund and Cancellation Policy may be updated at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised date. Clients are encouraged to review it periodically.
